One of the most important things to us in the digital age are images. My iPhone has a great camera, I only need to take it out of my pocket to take a snap. With google photos it looks at my devices and the photos that I have backed up to google, for any that I haven't yet backed up it presents an icon and offers a backup option in the menu. I usually back them up on the internet with google and then delete them from my iPhone to save space. I can always access my complete photo collection through google photos from anywhere in the world. I often want to show an image to someone and all I need for any photo is an internet connection. The google photos app shows you photos stored on the internet and the device you are connecting from.
Typically I open the local photo and if I like the shot and want to keep it, from the menu I choose backup and then it’s uploaded to my google photos account after which I can delete it from my device and I only keep the copy I’ve uploaded. This way I have access to all my photos or videos when logged in from any device globally. Storage comes at a price, the first 15gb is free, that’s a lot of photos, for more storage than that you must pay a very small fee. In the past I’ve worked in data centres which are large and complex and cost quite a bit to maintain so it is understandable if you want to store a massive amount of data in the cloud. Google photos is a great app, I can store all my photos grouped by the month they were taken, probably there are other ways to group them, perhaps by people and place, but I’m happy by month.
